Team 811, "The Cardinals," is Bishop Guertin High School's FIRST Robotics Competition team. While we started in 2002, our roots go back to 1993. Over the years we've competed successfully in regional and championship competitions in Manchester NH, New Haven CT, Orlando FL, Houston TX, Atlanta GA, and St. Louis MO, as well as several off-season competitions. But our success is measured not so much in the numerous trophies and accolades we've earned, but in the long list of students who have done amazing things after graduating from our team.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a program that seeks to "inspire young people to be to be science and technology leaders." The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) challenges teams of high school students in the span of 6 weeks to design, build and finish a robot that must compete in a unique game. The teams and their robots then compete in local events to win a spot at the National Championship in St. Louis.
